Testing

To my knowledge, standardized testing is the single-most important factor for getting into college. Standardized tests are unique because they’re just that - standard. It means that all students who take the test are on a level playing field. For this reason standardized tests are more objective than the subjective GPAs of high schools. Standardized tests, primarily the ACT and SAT, also play a large role in obtaining scholarships from colleges after acceptance.

The two primary standardized tests are the ACT and the SAT. I’d also recommend taking the SAT Subject Tests if you plan on attending a competitive college.

There are also other important standardized tests, including AP and CLEP exams.
